November Writing Challenge

In the month of November I decided to challenge myself to write 50K words (or more) to finish the novel I'm working on. I have done this challenge before (and hit the goal) so I knew it was doable but it has been a few years since I've attempted it. But my life is a little more busy now so I wasn't entirely sure how it was going to go.
To hit the goal I'd have to write about 1,667 words a day if I wrote every day which I knew wasn't going to happen (either because of Thanksgiving or just needing a day off writing) so I set myself a goal of 2K words a day. If my creativity is flowing I can write 2K pretty easily but when it's not that's a struggle and going into the month I wasn't sure how it would go.
Thankfully so far it's gone well!
As of the end of the day yesterday (November 16th), I have written 32,394 words for the month so well on track to hit my goal. Overall the draft is sitting at 56,527 words because I started the month with around 24K written, which was about a quarter of the book (or Act 1 if you're familiar with the 3 act plotting structure that I roughly stick to). I'm thinking this draft will be complete around 70 - 75K but that's TBD.
This will be the next book I publish after Blue Line (book 4 in my Orlando Storm series - spicy hockey romances). It's a book I'm hoping will come out sometime in the second half of 2026 (probably but nothing is set in stone) and yes it is the next book in the Storm series. [SURPRISE!!!]
That's all for now. I'm not sure if I'm going to share another writing update next Monday or wait until the end of the month to write a wrap up post!
Until next time,
Marissa
